We are excited to announce the 2019-20 Annual Report for the Office of the Public Guardian has been tabled in the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly on 11 November 2020.
Throughout the year we continued to promote and protect the human rights of persons with impaired decision-making capacity through our advocacy efforts. These achievements would not be possible without the dedication and commitment of our team and collaborative initiatives with key stakeholders and community groups. Many thanks to everyone who has assisted us with these important achievements.
Key achievements of 2019-2020 include:
- Overview of Guardianship in the Northern Territory, through statistics, analysis and case studies of the core work undertaken by the Office of the Public Guardian.
- The successful transfer of all financial administration and estates for represented persons from the OPG to the Public Trustee.
- Effecting positive changes to guardianship trends in the NT that promote the rights of people with impaired capacity including an increasing number of family members undertaking the role of guardian
- 392 represented adults under 65 years of age participating in NDIS to improve their quality of life.
