In addition to making a guardianship order the Northern Territory Civil and Administrative Tribunal may:
- make an interim order while it decides on the application for guardianship, if it reasonably believes the adult has impaired decision-making capacity and urgently needs a guardian.
- register interstate guardianship orders so there is no need to apply for a guardianship order in the Northern Territory if the represented adult already has an order in another Australian state or territory.
- make a guardianship order for a 17-year old for when they turn 18, to smooth the transfer of decision-making authority from childhood to adulthood.
- make an order that a guardian, or another specified person, is authorised to take specified measures to ensure the represented person complies with the guardian's decisions in the exercise of the guardian's authority.
