If you disagree with a guardian’s decision, you can speak to the guardian, seek help from the Public Guardian and Trustee, or apply to the Tribunal.
What will the Public Guardian and Trustee do if you make a complaint?
Once you have made an application to the Northern Territory Civil and Administrative Tribunal for guardianship, the Tribunal will arrange a hearing.
Are there decisions a guardian is not allowed to make?
You have the Will-power !
The Health Care Decision Making Act 2023 provides a contemporary framework and principles for health care decision making for Territorians with impaired decision-making capacity.
Please note that due to upcoming regional “Show Day” public Holidays, the Public Guardian and Trustee Offices will be closed on these dates.
As of 7 May 2024, all of our services will be available from Berrimah.
When you are completing the form to the Northern Territory Civil and Administrative Tribunal to apply for a guardianship order, you need to include evidence that shows the person needs a guardian to help them make decisions.
