The Public Trustee has functions under the Criminal Property Forfeiture Act 2002.
The Act enables the courts to make an order for property to be restrained or forfeited if it is satisfied that it is crime-used or crime-derived. This order may appoint the Public Trustee to control and manage the property under the Act until the property is disposed of or returned to the owner.
