There are times where beneficiaries of deceased estates or matured Trusts are unable to be found. These funds are held by the Public Guardian and Trustee as unclaimed monies. Unclaimed money is held for a period of 7 years. During this time, attempts will be made to locate the beneficiary.
After 7 years, unclaimed money will be transferred to the Northern Territory Government to manage.
Any person who believes they are a beneficiary of funds held by the Public Guardian and Trustee can search the Public Trustee unclaimed monies register.
