Will storage

It is important to keep a Will in a secure place and make sure executors, family and other important people know where to find it.

The Public Guardian and Trustee offers free storage for original Wills in a secure vault. Copies of Wills cannot be stored.

To store a Will with the Public Guardian and Trustee

  • fill-in the registration form and
  • provide the Public Guardian and Trustee with the original Will.

To provide the Public Guardian and Trustee with the original Will, make an online booking.

Please retain a copy of any Will sent to the Public Guardian and Trustee for storage.

All Wills stored with the Public Guardian and Trustee will be added to the Will register, making it easier for the executor or administrator to find when needed.

Wills can also be stored with a solicitor or a bank. They may charge a fee and have their own rules for storage.
